NHS Pension Scheme

NHS Pension Scheme

Soon after being elected in 2010 the Government announced that it was intent on reducing the cost of public sector pensions including the pensions of NHS workers.
Their proposals would have led to NHS workers paying more, working longer and receiving a smaller pension.
Following a ballot, UCATT along with many other health service unions held a one day strike on November 30 2011.
Due to the industrial action some of the Government’s proposals were withdrawn and amended.
UCATT members voted to accept the Government’s final NHS pension offer in a consultative ballot.
