Sign petition to mark Action Mesothelioma Day

UCATT is urging its members to sign an online Government petition to provide funding for mesothelioma research, to coincide with Action Mesothelioma Day (Friday July 4th).

Construction workers are the group most at risk of being exposed to asbestos and developing mesothelioma the incurable cancer of the lining of the lungs.

This week the Health and Safety Executive revealed that the latest figures show that deaths from mesothelioma increased by 11% in a year and annual fatality rates are expected to rise further in the future. There were a total of 2,535 deaths from mesothelioma in 2012 compared to 2,291 in 2011.
