London and South East Region Update March 2015

New UCATT Learning Centre opens in Margate

UCATT Regional Organiser Mark Soave attended the launch of the new Thanet Learning Centre at Constructing Your Future in Margate and signed a new learning agreement. UCATT is supporting the Centre, which trains 14-16 year olds and helps them to find employment or a construction-based apprenticeship, and is talking to the trainees about the role of unions in the furworld of work and how it can support and represent them.

“The Region fully supports initiatives like this, which encourages young students with a flair for construction to develop the skills they will need to work in the industry,” said Mark. “These youngsters are the future construction workforce, future UCATT members and we hope they will also be our future activists."
