A UCATT member from Ely in Cambridgeshire has won a hugely significant employment tribunal case against an umbrella company. Maurice Meredith contacted UCATT after the union staged a demonstration against umbrella companies in November 2014, outside a Hills construction site next to Cambridge Railway Station.
UCATT members will demonstrate outside major constructor Hills Construction to protest against extreme low pay and unprincipled payroll accounting. Workers at Hills two sites next to Cambridge railway station are officially paid a rate of £6.50 an hour and are being subject to an array of accounting charges.
