UCATT member in Cambridgeshire wins significant tribunal against umbrella company

A UCATT member from Ely in Cambridgeshire has won a hugely significant employment tribunal case against an umbrella company. Maurice Meredith contacted UCATT after the union staged a demonstration against umbrella companies in November 2014, outside a Hills construction site next to Cambridge Railway Station.

UCATT makes key appointment in Eastern Region

Construction union UCATT has appointed Ron McKay to the position of Regional Secretary in its Eastern Region.

62-year-old Mr McKay had been fulfilling the role on a temporary basis after former Regional Secretary for the Eastern Region, Brian Rye, became National Secretary and then Acting General Secretary.

Attacks by G4S on working conditions at Stevenage hospital threatens services

Trade union UCATT has warned that plans to reduce the pay and working conditions of staff at Lister Hospital in Stevenage threatens services.

Approximately 300 staff who are employed in ancillary services including cleaning are facing a severe cut in their pay. In some cases workers could see their rate of pay cut by almost £6 an hour.
