Bicester housing workers exposed to asbestos

UCATT to protest in Victoria over umbrella companies

Construction union UCATT will be demonstrating outside of the Lend Lease development in Victoria in protest at construction workers being forced to work via umbrella companies. Being paid via an umbrella company is costing workers up to £100 a week.

UCATT members accept improved pay offer to end HTC crane dispute

UCATT crane drivers employed by HTC Plant Ltd have agreed a new pay offer to end their industrial dispute. Having agreed the pay offer, the one day strike scheduled for tomorrow (Friday 21st November) has been called off.

UCATT warns employers on use of dangerous and illegal agency crane drivers

Construction union UCATT have written to major contractors warning them not to use illegal agency workers to try to undermine the HTC Plant Ltd crane strike which begins this Friday (November 7th).

The use of agency labour to undermine legal industrial action is prohibited under employment law.

The 180 plus crane drivers have overwhelmingly voted in favour of strike action in a dispute over pay.

UCATT members at HTC Plant Limited have voted overwhelmingly for strike action in a dispute over pay.

The 180 plus crane drivers had a vote of 94% in favour of strike action and 94.6% in favour of industrial action short of strike action. The turnout was in excess of 80%.

HTC bullying increases workforce anger

Crane drivers employed by HTC Plant Limited have been angered as a result of the company’s crass bullying tactics.

Construction union UCATT are currently balloting members for industrial action in a pay dispute as a result of the company refusing to restore wages to the levels that workers received in 2008.
