UCATT reaction to Grosvenor Square fatality

Commentating on the fatal accident that occurred yesterday (Monday 14th April) in Grosvenor Square, London in which a construction worker died and another worker was injured, Jerry Swain Regional Secretary for UCATT’s London and South East Region said: “This was a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this dreadful time.”

Construction deaths in Kent increase dramatically

An investigation by construction union UCATT has revealed that the number of construction deaths in Kent has increased dramatically.

There were a total of 4 construction deaths in Kent in 2012/13 compared to just one in the previous reporting year. The figures are particularly disturbing as there were only five construction deaths for the whole of the south east in 2012/13.

UCATT to demonstrate in London at Robert McAlpine site in blacklisting day of action

Construction union UCATT will hold an anti-blacklisting demonstration outside of a Sir Robert McAlpine site in London.

The demonstration forms part of the TUC anti-blacklisting day of action which is taking place on Wednesday 20th November.
